Mission
Cascadia Eye is a prescribed lens retailer who wanted to start designing their own frames. To get started, they wanted to 3D model and print the frames. They contacted me to help reverse engineer competitor designs and make the design changes they wanted.
Reverse Engineering
Design 1
For the first design, Cascadia Eye supplied images with measurements (similar to the left) and had an outside source 3D scan the frames.
The 3D scan was used as a reference and to help match the organic geometry of the design.
Design 2
The second design was made from drawings. The designer provided the following drawing and it was up to me to fill in any missing dimensions and make the model look organic.

Results
Cascadia Eye was happy with both designs I produced, they are continuing to work on design changes before moving forward with mass production. The picture on the left compares the 3D scan file to what I produced.
